Hockey Season Update

Hi All,

It has been a while since my last post and a lot has happened during that time on and off the hockey pitch. Where do I start......I suppose with the hockey!

The National Premier has started very well with my club side Leicester. We have managed to win all our matches so far, 8 straight victories and are currently ahead of Reading at the top of the table. We have two more matches this side of Christmas, then the indoor season starts and then the winter break before the outdoor league resumes in February. We have also made it to the quarter-finals of the cup competition.
One of my main reasons for joining Leicester was to win National titles and to play in the European Club hockey league, so hopefully we are heading in the right direction and I hope we can challenge strongly in the indoor league and make the finals night this year be held in Nottingham Trent Arena.

Since October we have started a Centralised Programme with the National squad which enables us to train as a GB squad most of the days of the week, every week and we hope this will improve our performances as a team at major tournaments in the lead-up to the London Olympic Games.
This has required many changes by individuals and it has shown how much commitment and dedication we put in, by all in the squad, in order to make the team for 2012 and for the team to perform to medal standards at the games.

Off the hockey pitch, I have been carrying out a number of Team Essex Ambassador duties across Essex.
One in particular was special for me returning to Chelmsford Hockey Club to help run a hockey master-class for youngsters from three schools in the Chelmsford area who have created a club-school link with the help of England Hockey. These coaching session hope to be continued each month at Chelmer Park and encourage young people to take up the sport and join the club to access more coaching on a regular basis.

With the winter months ahead I am looking forward to the indoor season approaching and can't wait to get inside to try some skills out. Always fun times indoors!

Thanks for reading and will keep you posted

Matches in Prep for Champions Trophy

Hi All,

I am currently in Frankfurt, Germany at present playing two test matches against them. Today we played them and won 3-2 with me managing to score along side Jo Ellis and Susie Gilbert. With this result we have a rematch tomorrow with another point to prove.

Last weekend saw Spain travel to English lands for two test matches at Beeston, Nottingham. The first match resulted in a 1-1 draw with my Club team mate Katie Long scoring a super goal. The second match result went our way winning 3-1 with a much better team performance.

We are currently preparing for the Champions Trophy, Sydney in July  where we will be competing against the top 6 teams in the World. Tough competition faces us being ranked 7th in the world but will be a good challenge and going forward to London 2012 where we would like to be one of the top teams it will be a good stepping stone.

Keep watching for more updates on our travels as a team.

Looking Forward to the Summer

Hi All,

Sorry its been a while since my last posting on here. Quite a lot has happened since I last wrote including the GB Super league in Cardiff and Cannock. I was part of the Pennine Pumas team who won the Women's tournament over four matches beating the Saxon Tigers in the Final.

Since the end of the club season the international programme has kicked in with heavy loads of training preparing for our two major tournaments in the summer, the Champions Trophy (Sydney) in July and European Cup (Amsterdam) in August. Both should be brilliant tournaments with ideal locations and tough opposition at both. The top six teams at the Champions Trophy and qualification for the World Cup at stake at the Euros - both will be hard work testing ourselves against the best in the world.

I have also had some fun days including a photo shoot in Cologne with Adidas, my new sponsor through to London 2012 (New pictures will be coming soon) and some school visits to Launch the Essex Leadership award in Chelmsford and I spoke at the Essex County Council 2012 Legacy Conference in Southend.
Until next time

Chloe

Season Comes to an End (Almost)...

Hello,
Well we are close to the end of the season for this year now. We have three league games left with Leicester and we are really pushing for the second spot in the league and the final European Qualification place. We are still confident but now rely on some of the other results from matches out of our hands, but will continue to push on and we will have to see what happens!

Last week I was lucky enough to be voted Essex Chronicle Sports Personality of the Year presented at the County Ground in Chelmsford, home to Essex County Cricket Club. The award was given to me by Grant Flower (Essex Cricket coach) .
Can I thank everyone who voted for me from the paper and say a big thank you to all the support people have provided over the years and especially in the lead up to the Beijing Olympics. Individually to my family, Chelmsford Hockey Club and the ladies of Braintree Golf Club.

Best Wishes

Chloe writes...

Hello All,

Well in to the New Year now and have since returned back to action for Leicester after our GB adventures in Spain at the start of January.

We got off to winning ways beating Canterbury 3-0 and puts us still in the chase to get a European qualification spot in the league (top 2) and we played some really good hockey as a team.

Training has been pretty full on the last few weeks and now starting to really get back into action with England training starting up soon again.

My aims for this year are to be apart of the squad for the Champions Trophy, Sydney in July and really push on and challenge for top two spots at the Europeans, Amsterdam in August with England.

At the start of January I was lucky enough to be nominated as a Team Essex Ambassador for the county and attend an evening function at the House of Lords in London it was also a nice occasion as my Parents and brother Ollie all attend and we had a nice evening out. Through this I hope to be able to inspire and pass on my experience in sport to younger people and encourage them to take up a sport especially with Essex hosting the mountain biking event at the London 2012 Olympics.

With Leicester we face Poynton on Saturday, if the weather allows us, having missed most of our outdoor training this week due to the snow. This is why I think we should play more indoor and have a longer indoor season due to the weather!!

Best Wishes

Wins against Liverpool Sefton (6-2), Clifton (3-2) and Aldridge, from near West Bromwich (7-1) left Chelmsford Ladies 5th and a point adrift of Bowdon Hightown. They'd lost 1-4 to Bowdon Hightown in their opening match of the weekend in Croydon. The results mean they haven't qualified for the NIA finals day in Birmingham.

Chloe played for Chelmsford in the number 9 shirt and scored plenty of goals.
